Around 10 years back we had a much simpler life with wireless networks carrying mostly Voice traffic – which had probably a single page to setup the call followed by long holding time for the voice call generating healthy revenue generating traffic. As networks transited that stage towards generations that moved from Circuit switched to Packet switched networks, the signaling overhead increasingly grabbed more bandwidth leading to a stage now where the Signaling causes more than half of the total CPU load.
